Special edition featuring the famous Berlin illustrator Heinrich Zille with contributions by Adolf Behne, Ignaz Jezower, Walter Petry and a letter from a Berlin worker. Profusely illustrated with a few b/w photographs and evocative and daring drawings of the Berlin milieu (Milljöh) by Heinrich Zille. Zille was considered the most popular artist since the German painter of light Adolf Menzel and his often funny drawings depicted the life of the Berlin "Common People." Though he did not consider himself an artist, Zille was paid great respect and the Academy of Arts honored him with a professorship in 1924. Text in German. Wrappers with wear along edges, chips and tears, particularly at spine. Front cover is almost detached. Some age-toning of block.
