Inscribed "Leslie Mann ... Olympic Baseball Teams. U.S.A. Baseball Congress. Berlin Ger. Aug. 12-1936." Leslie Mann was a professional baseball player and coach, founded the U.S.A. Baseball Congress and was the driving force to make baseball a demonstration sport at the Summer Olympics in Berlin. The publication is dedicated to the athletes (fighters) of the XI. Olympics in memory of their stay in the Olympic Village as guest or the German Army. The construction of the village was conducted by the German army who used the village for its own purposes after the Olympics. The 27 b/w photographs include aerial shots, plans, the surrounding area and interior of the accommodations and amenities of the Olympic village. Text in German. Spine reinforced with green masking tape. Binding moderately soiled with wear along edges, scuffing. Starting at front endpaper. Some water exposure and subsequent wavy paper. Some yellowing of pages in margins not affecting images. A couple of small tears in margins, scribble on page 13, not affecting images. Page 16 with cut on but not penetrating image.
