Translation and transliteration of the inscriptions of Shapur I, the second kind of the Sassanid Empire, found near Persepolis. He defeated the Romans at the Battle of Barbalissos and captured Emperor Valerian at the Battle of Edessa. Shapur's forces advanced as far as Caesaria. His inscriptions are in Parthian, Middle Persian and Greek. Includes plates 20-29 which were not printed with the original text but added separately. Some wear to spine and wrappers.
