Original illustrated dustjacket over brown quarter cloth and tan boards with gilt lettering on spines. Two volumes of the semi-annual Israel Exploration Journal published since 1950. These two volumes covering nine archaeological expeditions exploring desert caves on Israeli territory. The findings included Greek documents, letters, coins, and skeletons. Profusely illustrated with in-text drawings, including maps, and separate sections of impressive b/w reproductions of photographs of respective areas and findings at rear of both volumes. Samples of Greek and Hebrew writing relating to various findings. Text in English. Bindings rubbed though brodart protected. Some discoloration of DJ of first volume spine and areas along spine. Previous owner's name stamped onto both front endpapers. Some red underlining and marks in margins of both volumes. DJ, binding and interior in overall good+ condition. g. Item #35630
