Exhaustive work on the inscriptions of the Jewish catacomb at Monteverde in Ancient Rome. This was not only the largest catacomb, but perhaps also the oldest, most likely be used from the late first century BCE until the fourth century CE. Monteverde was first discovered in 1602, containing a wealth of inscriptions in Hebrew, Greek and Latin. This study is profusely illustrated with 173 b/w photographic reproductions of the inscriptions. Title on front cover partly foxed along edges. Sporadic abrasion to paper due to damp exposure (partly affecting text and images). Text in German. Binding in overall good+ to very good, interior in good condition.
