Nachman Krochmal was an important figure in the Eastern European Haskalah best known for his “Moreh Nebuhei Ha-Zaman.” As a religious moderate he attempted to reconcile 19th century thought, particularly that of Hegel, with traditional Judaism. Also included are letters and Krochmal's abridgement of the biblical commentary of Abraham ibn Ezra. Illustrated with four b/w facsimile photographs of Krochmal's home, his grave, a plate commemorating his death and a letter in his handwriting. Text in Hebrew. Library sticker on spine. Book plate and library pocket on endpapers. Spine sunned. Age-toning to leaves, but still readable. Overall in good condition. g. Item #33462
