Frontispiece reproduces a sepia-tone photograph of Harriet Beecher Stowe. Tight copy of the first edition of the Yiddish translation of Stowe's literary classic. Illustrated with 58 full-page b/w drawings. Translated from the original English into Yiddish by J. Jaffe. Eight advertisement pages in Yiddish at rear (text only). Tail of spine slightly bumped. Small stain near bottom edge of rear board. Some soiling on top, fore- and bottom edges. Gilt on spine with light flaking of medallion and ruling. Binding in very good, interior in near fine condition.

The 8" x 11 1/2" x 1" plate was most likely used to create an advertisement, perhaps for a magazine, etc. Wood at rear slightly split but holding firm. Overall very good condition. Item #32484
