Swan, the renowned biologist, educator, naturalist and pioneering public television science instructor. Remarkable work on the Papaloapan River drainage and the construction of various diversion dams intended to prevent further catastrophic floodings such as the one that occured in 1944 and which covered 470,000 hectares, with great loss of life and property. This collection is profusely illustrated with numerous b/w photographic reproductions by Walter Reuter and Elizabeth Timberman, full page b/w and color maps, and a large folding color map by Miguel Covarrubias at rear of the second edition, large format volume.
