Werden und Wertung der Reformation

Tübingen: J. C. B. Mohr (Paul Siebeck), 1979. Second revised. Hardcover. Quarto. XXI, [1], 500, [2]pp. Original printed cloth wrappers. Publisher's logo on front cover and title page. Remarkable study of the late Medieval-Reformation religious and theological scene in which the author makes three points. One is to argue that the late Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the Reformation are not three different epochs, but represent three different perspectives addressed to the same sources. The second is to stress the approach of intellectual history which he sees challenged by the perspectives of social and economic history. The third is the disposition to assert the multifariousness of the Reformation - thereby refusing to see Luther as the focus point of all happenings. Minor shelf wear. Corners slightly bumped, thus slightly affecting pages throughout. Text in German. Wrappers in overall good, interior in good+ to very good condition. vg. Item #31570
