Title page with engraving of a person carrying a cross and a lamp. A comparison of Jewish and Christian practices by Abbé Claude Fleury, a leading early 18th century French cleric and the confessor to Louis XV. The vast majority of Fleury's section on Judaism deals with biblical Israel, with a brief discussion at the end as to how post biblical Judaism degenerated into Pharisees, Sadducees and Essenes before moving on to Christianity, which Fleury saw as the true heir to the biblical religion.
