Second edition of this scarce and extravagant medical treatise by Guilhem Ader, the renowned Occitan language writer from Gascony, who studied medicine in Toulouse and became a physician in the Duc of Joyeuse's army. In this work, Ader deals with diseases and the miraculous healing power of Jesus Christ. This treatise contains also the author's considerations on various diseases mentioned in the New Testament: Leprosy, paralysis, etc... and a quite interesting chapter on werewolves (pp. 31-41 and 387-391). Ex-library sticker on lower spine. Moderate age-toning and damp-staining on binding. Previous owner's ex-libris (Alfred M. Hellman) on inside of front cover.
