Deckled fore-and bottom edges. Some pages unopened, as issued. Frontispiece portrait of Mitchell after a painting by Geri Melchens, signed by Mitchell in black ink. Each volume with frontispiece, protected by captioned tissue-guards. Fine limited edition with the works of Donald Grant Mitchell who sometimes wrote under the pseudonym Ik Marvel. Mitchell produced volumes of essays on rural themes, studies of English and American literature, character novels, and studies on English monarchs. Illustrated with b/w reproductions of photographs, paintings and drawings. Each illustration protected by captioned tissue-guards. Printed on Ruisdael hand-made paper. Leaves with "RUISDAEL" watermark on lower margin. Spines slightly sunned. Limitation and half title-page in vol. XII loose but present. Tight, complete set in overall near fine condition.
