Deckled fore-page edge. 1920 publication containing a collection of poems by Jewish-German poet, prose writer, and dramatist, Else Lasker-Schüler (1869-1945). Lasker-Schüler was one of the few women affiliated with the German Expressionist movement and was famous for her bohemian lifestyle in Berlin. She fled from the Nazi's and after a brief stay in Switzerland emigrated to Jerusalem. Illustrated with four full-page reproductions of color drawings and b/w reproductions of drawings and sketches by the artist. Text in German, gothic script. Some age wear, creasing, foxing and staining on wraps. Small parts of backstrip missing. Edges of wraps creased and partly chipped. Sporadic foxing throughout.
