The first part of the book narrates Berdyaev's intellectual growth and struggle through his native aristocratic environment, and his consecutive allegiance to Marxism, Idealism, and Christianity until his expulsion from Russia by the Communists and his death in Paris. The second part presents Berdyaev's views on God, Man, Jesus Christ, Christian Ethics, and the Philosophy of History. It ends with a critical evaluation of Berdyaev's work as a whole.
