Volume I looks at the ten year period from 1450 to 1460 as France emerged from the Hundred Years' War, beginning a precarious balance achieved by the five Italian states until the collapse of their system beneath the contending and inimical French and Spanish invasions of Italy from 1494. Volume II reveals how the enemy of France, Sforza, and the enemy of Charles VII, his son Dauphin Louis, linked themselves in the Treaty of Genappe and fostered an understanding among Milan, Burgundy, and Yorkist England with the object of countering French designs in Italy and a French threat to make war on the Duke of Burgundy. Minor rubbing on dj, head and tail of dj spines slightly creased. Small closed tear on inside of dj in Vol. II repaired with tape.
