Columbia University Oriental Studies, Vol. XXIV: Protection of the Weak in the Talmud

New York: Columbia University Press, 1925. First edition. Hardcover. Quarto. [10], 87pp. Original cloth with gold lettering on spine, printer's device in gilt on front board and blind-stamped borders along covers. Printer's device on title-page. Fascinating work being a study of the means adopted by the men of olden times by which those who were born weak or became so were protected. It is especially in connection with the Jews who lived at the time when the Talmud was taking form. Some age wear on binding with head and tail of spine rubbed, and gold lettering partly faded. Corners slightly bumped and rubbed and minor soiling on covers. Previous owner's name on free front endpaper. Upper part of fly leaf cut out. Binding in overall good- to good, interior in very good condition. g. Item #26626
