Black lettering on green title-label laid on spine. Fascinating work being the report of Lieut. Henry L. Abbot upon explorations for a railroad route, from the Sacramento Valley to the Columbia River, made by Lieut. R. S. Williamson (Corps of Topographical Engineers). This study is divided into 4 parts and profusely illustrated as follow: General Report is complete of its 13 colored lithographs and of its 2 in-text woodcuts, but is lacking the 2 maps; Geology is complete of its 5 lithographs (including 1 in color) and of its 11 in-text woodcuts; Botany is complete of its 16 lithographs (including 10 in color) and of its 28 in-text woodcuts; Zoology is complete of its 11 plates of fishes, 2 plates of birds (colored) and 3 plates of mammals. Some age wear on binding with heavy rubbing on covers and spine. Corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Some abrasion on upper right corner of front board. Minor damp staining affecting only the upper parts of title-pages. Sporadic foxing affecting some plates. Minor age-toning throughout.
