Fascinating autobiography by Wolli Kaelter. The rabbi revisits his childhood and youth in Danzig, the fateful voyage to America with four Berlin classmates in 1935 to attend Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati and his student days there, his courtship of Sarah Shapiro, thirty-nine years and six settings of his rabbinate, as well as his travels and activities after his "retirement" in 1979. "The book is Wolli Kaelter as everyone knows him - always honest, full of good humor and high sprits, and serious reflection, particularly on the subject of rabbinic commitment, God, faith, and growing older." Illustrated with b/w reproductions of photographs. Rabbi Kaelter passed away at 93 in 2008. Head and tail of spine slightly bumped. Some creasing on dj.
