This booklet shows on its cover a view of the famous Wohnsiedlung, in Berlin-Grunewald, and contains articles on the "natural beauties of Eastern Berlin", and the reopening of the "Vorderasiatische Museum" (Museum of the Middle East). This works also contains the detailed programs of the various movie theatres, cabarets and theatres of Berlin, along with concerts and sporting events for the week of May 28th to June 3rd 1940. Includes numerous advertisements of restaurants and a folded map of Berlin at rear. Booklet has folded mark in its middle and minor age-toning on wrappers. Articles and captions in German and Italian. Wrappers and interior in overall very good condition. 3 original b/w photographs are laid in. All three were taken in Berlin-Grunewald which is a locality of the Berlin borough of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. The neighbourhood developed out of a so-called "mansion colony" at the western end of the Kurfürstendamm. Promoted by Otto von Bismarck the upper class of Berlin from 1880 on discovered Grunewald as an attractive site for living, which was incorporated into Greater Berlin in 1920. One of the photographs has a caption at rear stating "Onkel Toms Hütte" and dated 12. 8. 34. It shows 3 women and a man walking together on Onkel Toms Hütte strasse, in the Wohnsiedlung of Berlin-Grunewald (3.5" x 4.5"). The last two show 2 interesting scenes taken from the same window a few years apart. The first one shows Nazi soldiers going to the front and the second one shows a French soldier aboard an American made tank named "Alsace-Lorraine" passing by (5" x 7"). The last two photographs bear the stamp of the Foto Catja studio in Berlin-Zehlendorf and are numbered. It is interesting to note that all the buildings shown on the photographs are in a Bauhaus architecture. Minor tape marks at rear. Photographs in overall very good condition. vg. Item #24640
