Artkunst-Mappen der Körper-Bildungsschule Adolf Koch; Mappe 1: Der Körper im Raum

Leipzig: Ernst Oldenburg, (1930). Ten 7" x 9 1/4" reproductions of photographs of women in the nude resting in original printed portfolio with pictorial paste-down and folding flaps. Adolf Karl Hubert Koch (1896-1970) was a German school teacher, doctor, and leader of the German Freikörperkultur (German nudist movement) in the 1920's and 1930's. He trained to be a school gymnastics teacher, finding in nude physical exercise the symbol of a 'new beginning for a new society'. In the 1920's, he created his own institute for nudist education (Körper-Bildungsschule). Koch went on to develop thirteen schools in Germany. The 10 photographic reproductions in this work were taken at Koch's school in 1930. Some water staining and age wear on portfolio. A second portfolio "Mappe 2: Buben u, Mädels" was published in the same year. Plates in very good to near fine condition. Scarce. OCLC lists only 1 library worldwide owning this item. vg.
