This scarce work provides a vivid picture of the life and work of Josef Drahoňovský, an outstanding and major figure in glass art in the 20th century. He specialized in glass sculpture and his designs, many of them engraved in exquisite detail, are unequaled to this day. This elegant volume is delightfully illustrated throughout with 65 full-page duo tone photographic reproductions showing some of the artist's masterpieces. Includes a full-page photographic reproduction of Drahhonovsky at work, signed by him below image in blue ink. The first 22 plates (numbered 1-21a) depict the artist's sculptural work. The following 43 plates (numbered 22-64) show images of magnificent glass art pieces. Each plate is captioned in Czech, French, English, and German. Foreword by Jean Babelon in French and Czech.
