The series was published annually from 1931 until 1940. Publication ceased temporarily under Nazi occupation. Three more hardbound volumes were published after W.W.II. Each volume profusely illustrated with plates in photogravure of works by artists such as Josef Sudek, Maximillian Mayer, Vilem Bauer, J. Fabinger, Jaromir Funke, Vladimir Havelka, A. Pikart, V. Hanus, Jan Hub, Emil Katschner, Jan Lauschmann, Karl Mahler, Emil Wolf, Karel Hàjek, Alois Zych, Jan Blazek, and many others. 18 page advertisement section in rear of each volume. Volumes I - VIII (1931-1938) bound in matching tan cloth, printed in gray and black. Other volumes in similar printed tan paper-covered boards. 1949 in quarter cloth with gold-stamped illustration on cover. Early years with covers of avant-garde typographic designs by Karel Teige. Volumes I-III with text in Czech, English, French and German. 1934,1935 & 1936 in Czech and French, 1937 & 1938 in Czech and English. 1939 and 1940 in Czech only, post-war years in Russian and Czech with photographic reproductions in sepia-tone. Bindings with minor age wear and some staining. 1939 volume split along joint on back board, firmly holding. Bindings in overall good to very good condition. Vols. III and IX with signature of previous owners on title-page, abrasion on title-page in Vol. V due to removal of previous owner's signature. Tight copies with interior in very good condition.
