NP, n/d. 4 3/4" x 6 1/2" four leaf fold-out program of the Kreisturnfest by the Nordamerikanischer Turnerbund (North American Gymnastic Union). Includes rules and guidelines for the event. The Turnfest was held in Kansas City from 23rd - 11th July, 1911. Political unrest in 1848/49's Germany brought a few thousand refugees to the United States. Many of these were Turners, who soon after their arrival started to build Turner clubs after their German models. Besides socializing and continuing their cultural endeavors, the main goal of the clubs was the development of physical education. Program has been neatly folded in half.
