Preface by Acting Government Statistician, Dr. M. Sicron. "According to the provisional count, Israel's population amounted to 3,124,000 persons on the night between May 19th and 20eth, 1972. This figure comprises the permanent residents of Israel, including those living in the Administered Territories... At the time of the previous census, in May 1961, there were 2,179,000 residents in Israel... [The] increase [of 994,500 persons] comes directly from natural [birth] increase- 568,000 persons- and from the migration balance- 315,000 persons.The addition of the inhabitants of East Jerusalem to the population of Israel is also included." Text in Hebrew and English, includes a fold-out administrative district map of Israel, making no distinction between West and East Jerusalem, but does not include data beyond "the Green Line"- Gaza or the West Bank.
