An abridged version of Simon Frankfurter's (1634-1712) Sefer Ha- Hayim, first printed in Amsterdam 1703, a book of prayers for visiting the sick and mourning as well as mourning customs. The last 15 leaves (30 pages) is a German translation of Kitsur Sefer Ha-Hayim, written in Hebrew characters. Heavy age wear, staining and abrasions on binding, pealing on lower pat of backstrip. Stamp of previous owner, in German, on recto of free front endpaper. Signature of previous owner on top of verso of free front endpaper. Closed tear on page 7, not affecting text. Pencil notes on pages 1 and 64, not affecting text. Sporadic foxing throughout. Text in Hebrew and German in Hebrew characters, with German using a form of gothic Hebrew lettering.
