Illustrated with chromolithographs, duo-tone & b/w plates showing Indian textiles, woodwork, metalwork, ceramics as well as two identical ground plans of the Indian section at the Royal Colonial and Indian Exhibition. Includes three double-page plates. Six chromolithographs with stunning gold and silver overprinting. Text in first section with illustrated initial and articles on the Punjab Court Screen, Kashmir Court Screen (among various other provinces), Punjab Cotton Prints, Punjab Court (wood-carving, metal manufactures, jewelry, pottery, lacquered ware, wood inlaid work, and ivory carving), Madras, Tanjore & Mysore, Indian Stone carving, Kanon-Kwan-Yin-Avalokitesvara. Section of issue 14 (115-124pp.) with article by Thomas Wardle entitled "The Journal of Indian Art on The Indian Silk Culture Court at the Colonial and Indian Exhibition" by Thomas Wardle, followed by "Famous Monuments of Central India" by R. C. Temple. Text section with one full-page engraving of "The Gwalior Gateway." Five areas on "Pigeon House, Baroda" plate repaired with tape on front and verso, not affecting image. Closed tear on bottom corner of that leaf. Some age wear, staining and scuffing on binding. Tail of spine slightly frayed. Minor age toning to outer edges of some interior pages, few finger smudges on margins. "56" in small numbers stamped on top margin of first page. Text line of caption on second to last page cut in middle but legible. Light age-toning. Parts of Issue 13(?) and 14 of "The Journal of Indian Art" with spectacular chromolithographs in rich, vibrant colors. Overall very good condition, plates clean and bright. vg. Item #22007
