Bookplate is a white and red embossed cartouche with the Rothschild family crest. Signed and dated in pencil "Veronika 1918" on free front endpaper. Frontispiece. Illustrated title-page. Detailed work on Napoleon's life profusely illustrated with over 500 reproductions of photographs, paintings and caricatures. Many of the full-page plates on heavy card stock with rest of pages printed on glossy paper. "Übertragen von O. Marschall von Bieberstein. Mit über 500 Textillustrationen, Vollbildern, Karikaturen und Autographen darunter verschiedene noch nicht veröffentlichte Bilder nach den berühmtesten Malern, Bildhauern und Stechern." * Veronika Henckel von Donnersmarck (Baroness von Donnersmarck, 1902-1964), was the wife of Erich von Goldschmidt Rothschild (1899-1987). Erich was the son of Max von Goldschmidt whose marriage to Minna von Rothschild led to the combining and creation of the double name Goldschmidt-Rothschild.
