Slight age toning to outer edges of interior pages. Frontisportrait of author with his signature in facsimile. Dedication page reads: "Zur Erinnerung an den verdienstvollen Förderer des hebräischen Schriftwesens und Schöpfer der Frank-Rühl-Hebräisch Herrn Rafael Frank." Published in memory of Rafael (Raphael) Frank (1867-1920), the designer of 'Frank Ruehl' (Rühl), the ubiquitous Hebrew text font style. The essay "Über hebräische Typen und Schriftarten" first appeared in 1911 in the Magazin "Archiv für Buchgewerbe" and was so popular that all issues were sold out in a short period of time. This edition also includes an article "Die Renaissance des Hebräischen" by Dr. Jacques Adler, as well as a short biography of Frank's life by his widow. Text in German and Hebrew.
