Thick decorative endpapers with floral design. This is an account of the role of Jewish representation at the first and most notable convening f the World's Parliament of Religions in 1893. This was the first attempt to create a global dialogue amongst different faith. Since then, there have been several meetings referred to as a Parliament of the World's Religions.
The 1893 Parliament, which ran from September 11 to September 27, marked the first formal gathering of representatives of Eastern and Western spiritual traditions. Today it is recognized as the occasion of the birth of formal interfaith dialogue worldwide. Age wear and scuffing to boards. White spotted staining to rear board. Fraying to head and foot of spine. Hinges slightly starting. Front decorative endpaper detached but present. The number "4362" written in pen on bottom of title page.
