This work, titled "Assortment of gems," is a collection of Proverbs and Sayings from Jewish Sources as well as from Greek and Arabic Philosophers, compiled in the 13th century by renowned Medieval Rabbi and Sage, Yedayah ben Abraham Bedirashi Penini, who lived in the French Provence Region. Penini originally wrote the work in Judeo-Arabic. This edition is the Hebrew translation, based possibly on Ibn Tibbon's translation. With additional commentaries by Ahron Dessau and a translation into German by Hirsch Löwinsohn Age wear to binding, especially at edges. Minor browning throughout, with sporadic foxing. Rippling throughout, with water marks to some pages, next to top spine. In Hebrew, in both regular and Rashi- script and in German, in Gothic script. Fair condition. fair. Item #20245
