Vol. I: XX, 67 pp. Vol. II: XIV, 113 pp. Vol. III: XIV, 121 pp. Each vol. has two b/w facsimile photographs of the original musical manuscripts of the composer Matthaeus Pipelare (c. 1450 - c. 1515) who was a Renaissance, Franco-Flemish composer and choir director. His style was wide-ranging; he wrote in almost all of the vocal forms current in his day: masses, motets, secular songs in all the local languages. Unfortunately, however, non of his instrumental music has survived. This work contains sheet music compiled from a number of original manuscripts. Lengthily inscribed to Gustave Reese by the editor and compiler, Ronald Cross on front endpaper of first volume. Original paper wrappers. Text in English. Age wear to wrappers. Small one inch piece of tape at the bottom left hand corner of each wrapper. Chipping to right edge of front wrappers due to size. books are in overall good condition. g. Item #19888
