Originally published in the Hebrew Union College Annual, this book discusses the origins of the "ark of the covenant" in ancient Israel. Author argues that the Israelite God started off as a desert, pastoral deity. Previously owned by the historian Salo Baron with his signature at inside of front board. Very minor age wear to binding, with part of cloth on top starting to split but still attached. Otherwise clean and tight. Very good condition. vg. Item #19467
