Contains 24 stunning reproductions by the Adachi Institute that were re-cut from original woodcuts. 22 plates in color, 2 in b/w, 3 of the plates are large fold-outs. All plates on folding paper-mat with cut-out exposing image, small paste-down sticker on margin with title of plate and name of artist. Double-fold with title-page & list of plates. Small stamp of library on back of each plate.
Text volume is in original wrappers with glassine jacket. Heavy chipping and tearing on glassine. Library bookplate on verso of free front endpaper. Usual age toning to pages. Small library stamp on free rear endpaper. Text by Ichitaro Kondo. Notes on Kabuki Subjects by Teruji Yoshida, English translation by Shigetaka Kaneko.
