Library inventory plate on tail-, and name of author taped across head of spine, four-inch split along spine of back board, scuffing and some wear to case. Library plate taped across tail of spine on both volumes as well as small stamp on front cover. Illustrated front-and rear endpapers in both volumes. Fold-out frontispiece with captioned tissue guard in Vol. I., library number written in pencil on illustrated title page. Ex-libris on free front endpaper in Vol. II. Profusely illustrated with wood engravings and plates in duo-tone, color and b/w. Some of the plates are fold-outs. Background illustrations in green on text pages. Pages unopened on fore-edge.
