The dictionary was originally conceived as an English-language version of the pioneering "Dictionary of the Macedonian Language" and was compiled by Reginald de Bray, Todor Dimitrovski and Blogoja Korubin and was edited and prepared at the Australian National University at Canberra. "The dictionary is the most ambitious attempt to date to record English equivalents for the vocabulary of modern Macedonian."
