Catalogue published in conjunction with an exhibition of photographs by renowned Russian-American photographer Roman Vishniac (1897-1990), best known for capturing on film the culture of Jews in Central and Eastern Europe before the Holocaust. The man was remembered for his humanism and respect for life - sentiments that can be seen in all aspects of his work.

The exhibition was held at the Jewish Museum in New York City, from October 19, 1971 to January 23, 1972.

This work is illustrated with seven color photographic reproductions of cell biology, and eight of Jewish communities in pre-WWII Eastern Europe.
