28 Volumes. Folio. 3/4 red morocco over marbled boards. Volumes showing wearing to edges. Head and tail of spine and corners worn and rubbed. The spines of six of the volumes have been crudely repaired with scotch tape, two spines are partially missing. Some hinges are cracking but holding, two volumes boards detached but present. Gilt top edge. Decorated endpapers. 1898 and 1899 one volume per year; from 1900 to 1912 two volumes per year. The covers of each issue have color photographic images of major actors of the day in costumes. Each issue also includes hors-texte color plates as well as many b/w photographs of production ensembles, stages, auditions, backstage, etc. Many adds and facsimiles. The magazines contain detailed reviews of French and European plays and operatic productions of the twentieth century, including provincial theaters. Minor yellowing to the edges of the pages, otherwise, very good throughout. The first major photographic survey of the theatre.
