When the Mission was founded in 1776, the region was populated by the Acjachemen band of Native Americans, called Juaneņos by the Spanish. The mission was named after the Franciscan saint Giovanni da Capistrano (1386-1456). This work is illustrated with 3 photogravures, each protected with a captioned tissue-guard. Moderate rubbing along edges. Offsetting on endpapers. Front hinge slightly starting. Previous owner's blind-stamped on title page. Title page slightly creased. Binding in overall good, interior in good+ condition.
