Collection of remarkable religious works by the renowned Dutch theologian Hermann Witsius (1636-1708). Witsius’ work is characterized by careful regard for Scripture and a desire to reconcile different denominations. During his lifetime, Witsius was a major influence on his contemporaries, such as John Gill and John Owen, and he continues to inspire Christians today, including J. I. Packer. Binding darkened and somewhat rippled on spine. This book is illustrated with 7 fine copper-engravings (including 4 folding). One plate with moveable onlay, showing the arc of the covenant underneath. Previous owner's ex-libris on inside of front cover. Moderate chipping along fore-edge of frontispiece (not affecting image). Light damp-staining throughout the first 120 pages and along fore-edge of very last pages. Pages slightly rippled throughout. Text in Latin. Binding and interior in overall fair condition.
