Double-page color frontispiece depicting the pilgrims. This fascinating work is a compilation of ten stories selected from Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales" that were adapted by Clarke for young readers and who supplied two introductions: one for a child, one for an adult, plus some words about the tales first written in the 1300s. Each story has a magnificent color plate for each character's tale. Some age wear on slipcase with spine and edges slightly sunned. Minor rubbing along edges. Slipcase in overall good, binding and interior in near to fine condition.
