Sm. octavo. Unpaginated (116pp). Original soft calf with gold-stamped title on cover. Deckled fore- and bottom page edges. Ribbon marker. Rare 1907/08 Seattle social register in alphabetical order. Beginning of each alphabetical section with hand-colored decorative initial in gold and blue. Foreword with hand-colored initial: "Seattle is growing. It is growing so rapidly that each season makes more imperative the need of some-thing in the nature of a Blue Book which shall be at the time a reliable and complete roster of all persons properly recognized as constituting society. In presenting to our patrons this first annual edition of the Blue Book we feel that we have supplied precisely what was needed. Nothing quite like it has ever appeared anywhere before. It is with pleasure therefore, that we offer to the society people of Seattle this unique work of art, relying with confidence upon the appreciation of the discriminating. To all of our patrons and to the many Ladies and Gentlemen who have given us invaluable assistance in compiling the Blue Book we beg leave to extend the sincere thanks of The Recherche Publishing Company, Seattle, 1907." Printed on high quality cotton rag. Spine heavily sunned, sunning to edges of front and back board. Some scuffing and staining on boards, Head and tail of spine and corners rubbed. Free front and rear endpapers sunned. Tight copy with binding in fair, interior in near fine condition. No entries found on OCLC or anywhere else online. Scarce publication, listing early 20th century inhabitants of Seattle.
