Rare first edition of one of the best photo books on Paris, ever published. Illustrated with 65 b/w reproductions of photographs by Dutch photographer, filmmaker, and author Joan van der Keuken (1938-2001). Photographs printed on French-fold leaves. The photographs were taken between 1956-58. His images show the city as a place where social class issues are deeply entrenched but focusing-and conveying a working, and working-class city. Captions in Dutch, French, English and German. Minor age-toning, scuffing, very few tiny closed tears on wrappers. Binding slightly soiled along edges. Wrappers in overall good, binding in very good, interior in near to fine condition.
