Rare catalogue by Poensgen & Heyer with seven stunning advertisement color designs of various German companies (* below), printed on Mitsumata Japan paper. This fine paper is made from the Mitsumata bush. Its fiber is shorter than that of the Kozo, therefore resulting in softer paper. In Japan, Mitsumata is considered a 'feminine fiber' because of its warm tone and soft feel. The company Poensgen & Heyer was founded by Carl-Eduard Poensgen and Wilhelm Ferdinand Heyer in 1885 in Cologne, Germany. The goal of the founders was to supply the public with a wide range of innovative, high class fine paper. The headquarters of the company were destroyed during an Allied air-raid in 1945 but reopened in 1948. The company is still one of the finest paper manufacturer in the world. 4 pages to each sample, 1 full-page advertisement followed by 3 blank pages, as issued. Scarce catalogue with designs in brilliant colors, gold and silver.
