In five acts with a prelude. The author Herman Bien (1831-1895) was a German-born American playwright, politician, teacher and editor. Interestingly, he also was the first rabbi on the Comstock. Some age wear, scuffing and staining on binding. Closed tear on tail of spine. Foxing on front and rear endpaper. Minor chipping on top corner from page 73 through rear endpaper. Tight copy with binding in good, interior in overall very good condition. Scarce. Not listed in Norton Stern's "California Jewish History."
