Written in less than a week at the height of the surrealist movement, Ralentir Travaux is a collection of collaborative poems by Andrè Breton, Renè Char and Paul Eluard. The title translates to Slow under Construction. Andrè Breton (1896-1966), was a French writer, poet, and surrealist theorist. Under his direction, surrealism became a European movement that influenced all domains of art, and called into question the origin of human understanding and human perceptions of things and events. Breton also made waves with his Surrealist Manifesto published in 1924. Renè Char (1907-1988), was a French writer who joined the surrealist group after he met Breton and Eluard but gradually distanced himself from them in the mid 1930's. Paul Eluard, a.k.a. Eugene Emile Paul Grindel (1895-1952), a French poet, was also one of the founders of the surrealist movement. Includes short preface by each author. Text in French. Glassine in poor, wraps and interior in very good condition. Nice copy of this important work.
