On the author (Source: Public Domain):Jens Otto Harry Jespersen or Otto Jespersen (1860-1943) was a Danish linguist who specialized in English language grammar. From 1893 to 1925, Jespersen was a professor of English at Copenhagen University . Along with Paul Passy, he was a founder of the "International Phonetic Association". Jespersen was most widely recognized for "Modern English Grammar "(first published in 1909), which concentrated on morphology and syntax, and "Growth and Structure of the English Language." Late in his life he published "Analytic Syntax "(1937), in which he presents his views on syntactic structure.
