First edition of this reference and scarce work on skin diseases profusely illustrated with 50 numbered full-page chromolithographs depicting diseases of the skin and syphilis, taken from the collection of casts at the Museum of the Saint Louis Hospital in Paris. Casts were moulded on patients and colored by Italian artist M. Baretta after original albumen photos by M. de Montmeja and M. Hardy. The text part is written by senior medical experts of the Saint Louis hospital, and is profusely illustrated with numerous b/w in-text illustrations. Some edgewear on binding with scuffing and leather spliting at edges. Some rubbing on boards and along joints. Corners worn. Head and tail of spine slightly rubbed. Scratch affecting gold lettering on spine. Closed tear at bottom of half-title, not affecting text. Minor browning, sporadic foxing, not affecting plates or text. In French. Binding in overall good, interior in very good to near fine condition.
